The Ghost Files 5

Sat Apr 7, 2007, 7:29 PM
Welcome to another installment of The Ghost Files! Just call me Spooky Listy! These are the experiences I have had while working at The Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, LA.

One day I showed up at the Myrtles with my digital camera. I wanted to just get some pictures around the grounds. I took plenty of pictures of the cats, who are my babies. Ask anyone that works there, they will tell you the cats and I are attached to each other.

I was the only one in the gift shop. The only customer at the time had just left. Suddenly a large, rolling ball of light came “running” around the corner of the counter, toward my legs, then completely around them. It was about knee high. Then it disappeared into the manager’s office. I grabbed my camera, but was too late to get a picture. It was very interesting, and I still wonder exactly what it was. But many months later I did get a picture of it in the Gentlemen’s Parlor. I didn’t revThen I decided later in the afternoon to go out to the abandoned pool to get some pictures.

The house is now owned by the Moss family. They have owned it since Mrs. Teeta was given the house by her husband as a Christmas present in 1992. They originally tried to live in the house, but too many things happened. They had a three year old son and an infant son. The three year old kept asking his mother not to let the little girl play in the chandeliers. He always described her as being blond wearing a white dress. He also would talk to people nobody else saw. When the family left the house he would ask why his sister couldn’t come. There was no sister.

One night, Mrs. Teeta and Mr. John E. were sleeping what is now the French Room. They had moved that furniture out and put theirs in, when Mrs. Teeta awoke to hear something upstairs. There should have been nobody up there. She couldn’t wake Mr. John E., so she decided to go up and check on it herself. She found nothing out of the ordinary, so went back downstairs and crawled into the bed. She told Mr. John E. that there was nothing to worry about. He just snored. But that was when the bathroom door started to open. There should have been no one in there. Mrs. Teeta got scared and moved closer to her husband. That’s when the door opened completely, and her husband stepped out of the bathroom. Mrs. Teeta jumped from the bed, and turned around to find no one was there any longer.

The family had this nice, fancy mansion to live in, but were living in a trailer out back until their new house even further into the woods was built. That’s also when construction on their swimming pool was stopped. They had intended to put a small lap pool in for their children. Luckily it was set off behind some trees along with the tool shed. Most people don’t even know it’s there. But the frogs and the turtles sure do!

The half finished pool is now filled with murky green water. During the summer the pond had dried up. There was no water left. The frogs and turtles all moved to the abandoned pool. That’s where I had headed to try to get some pictures of the creatures of the deep.

I was able to snap a few pictures before my camera started going nuts. It began to make strange clicking noises over and over again, and I could not make it stop. Then the brand new batteries went dead. I stood there staring at it for awhile, but decided to head on back to the gift shop. As soon as I entered another woman came hurrying in and described how her camera had started going crazy, snapping pictures on its own before going dead. I told her about my experience.

Experiences like this are not unusual at the Myrtles. It happens all the time. Brand new batteries are quickly drained and cameras seem to take on a life of their own. Is it the spirits playing pranks on us, or do they just need the energy our electronics use in order to manifest themselves?

All I know is, when I got home, the “dead” batteries began to work again.

Totally cool! HEHE! What does it say? I can't really read it.
 I think J's says... Haunt On... and Grant's says Scare em back Callie. I wonder if he meant that to be mean? LOL! Noooo... not Grant! Do you happen to have Discovery Channel? Monday's and Tuesdays and another day not sure when they have a show on around 12 or 1 called "A Haunting." It's re-enactments of ghost stories, but they're pretty good. I like them, unless they're demonic ones. I thought maybe you might like them too. I record them and watch them over the weekend, usually. :)
